Veteran of Vert RSS
Lisa Suggitt is a passionate rollerskater who's been charging on rollerskates for well over 30 years. Lisa runs the RollerGirl.ca Skate Shop in Vancouver. She started the shop because she couldn't find anyone who sold the products and services she needed to stay in her sport of choice, so she began repairing, modifying and making skates first for herself - then for her friends. We're excited to share some of Lisa's story with you!
We first came across Dave when we saw his pictures start to pop up with the local gals who cruise the Venice skatepark. It's hard to miss a veteran skater. Something about the ease of flow and laidback nature always gives them away. Soon after spotting Dave, Trample has the pleasure of crossing paths with him at a local meet-up she hosted in Los Angeles and was stoked with the opportunity to hear his story. It's now our pleasure to share it with you!
What can we say about Lenny Johnson? A speed skater who transitioned into the ramps in the early '90s and has since been redefining what it means to carve a bowl. We have yet to see a skater hit a line with as much speed and force as Lenny. This Burnside original learned to adapt and adjust to the skating culture yet managed to open his arms wide to skaters of all levels and has never shied away from sharing a session or insights into the ways of park skating.
We are excited to feature a bio on one of our favorite concrete shredders, Leon West. If you have not yet heard or seen this skater who pops up on our Instagram feed regularly by the alias @skeighty_8_legs then you must have been hiding under a rock - much like the ones he's been known to stall on *see below*. As we learned while interviewing Leon West, he might only have seven years clocked on his quad skates; it is rare to come across a skater with such a pure passion for the sport of quad roller skating. In his mere seven years on skates, Leon has become a staple of the local skatepark and spread the stoke in his local community. We are so stoked to share his story.
Jay Cloetens has been skating since the early '70s and is the maverick behind the RollerCon Skatepark tour which has now been rolling for over ten years! If you're planning on coming out to ANY of the late-night park skates, you'll get a chance to see this veteran of quad skates in action.
